Eric Blossom is the founder of the GNU Radio project, and has served as the maintainer and primary author since May of 2001.
In that time, GNU Radio has grown from the spark of an idea, to a blossoming free software project. The major accomplishments to date include a fully functional HDTV (digital TV) receiver. In addition to it's great hack value, the HDTV receiver has served as an effective tool in defending consumer rights, particularly in the face of the MPAA's Broadcast Flag initiative.
In addition to producing code, Blossom has served as a compelling and effective speaker about Free Software and GNU Radio. His presentation to the FCC's Technical Advisory Council resulted in very favorable commentary on open source software radio.
On the technical side, Eric brings a background in computer science, electrical engineering, digital signal processing, digital comms, and crypto, along with 20 years of experience with just about every kind of software, from kernel hacking, to embedded systems, to networking, end user apps, and GUI tools. He's never met a bit he couldn't wrangle.
